Sabine David is the owner and founder of Suncoast Custom, a company specialized in computer aided patternmaking and design services.

Sabine studied design at the University of Applied Science in Hamburg, Germany and earned a BA in Clothing Technology. She is also a trained dressmaker and instructor.

Being in the apparel industry for over 20 years, she has extensive industry experience in design, patternmaking, grading and production.

Sabine David has run a cad patternmaking service for a variety of clients for more than twentyfive years.

She has shared her knowledge since 1995 in the RUNDSCHAU (Magazine for Fashion and Pattern Techniques) in countless expert articles about patternmaking. Sabine relocated her business in 2005 from Germany to British Columbia, Canada where she provides services to clients in person and over the internet.

My Profile

Being in the apparel industry for
over 20 years
I know every step of creating fashion.
After a 3-year apprenticeship in dressmaking, I have worked for 5 years as a
Tailor and Dressmaker.
In 1992 I enrolled at the
University of Applied Sciences, Hamburg, Germany.
I graduated 1996 with honours in
Clothing Technology
and a 4.0 grade point average. During University I specialized in
Computer Aided Patternmaking
and wrote my thesis about analysis and comparison of cad-software.
Since I finished University I have been working as a
Freelance Patternmaker
for a variety of clients ranging from made-to-measure tailors to garment industries.
To share my knowledge I taught
Computer Aided Fashion Design and Patternmaking
at the Academy of Fashion Design
and the University of Applied Sciences, both in Hamburg, Germany.
I've also work as a freelance instructor at the Vancouver Island University and Pacific Design Academy, Canada.
In addition I have written
Articles about Patternmaking
on a regular basis for the RUNDSCHAU Magazine, Munich, Germany
In cooperation with the German publisher I’ve also written and translated several
Instructional Books for Patternmakers.
